Featured on Friday…Bella Bows

May 20, 2011

Today’s Featured on Friday profile is Stacey Munro who has recently started Bella Bows, based in Glasgow and providing chair covers and sashes, wedding wishing wells, candy buffets and stationery and favours for your big day….she’s all about weddings! Bella Bows can be found networking and linking up with other suppliers on facebook…but I will let her tell you more…

Tell us about yourself: My name is Stacey Munro, I’m 24. I recently married my husband Ross and we live in Lenzie, Glasgow.
What did you do before this?  I currently do administrative work therefore do this in my spare time, making the transition easy.
When did you launch? Nearly six months ago.
How did you get started? After planning my own wedding last August, I enjoyed the planning and organising of my own wedding so much that afterwards I felt low when I wasn’t involved in weddings anymore. So I decided to put my organisational skills and passion for everything wedding to good use by start up my own wedding business – starting off with Chair Cover and Sash hire and now we offer more services too.
How have you funded the business? My own personal savings and working full time has helped.
How do you promote your business? Handing business cards into local florist ect, contacting wedding venues and suppliers. Yell.com and Facebook, as well as word of mouth. I’ve created a logo and we’re currently developing a website.
What has worked best? Facebook has been where most of my bookings and enquires has came from.
Social media has worked well through linking up with other suppliers on facebook.
What has worked well about your business? Being able to build a rapport with customers by sharing my own experiences from planning my own wedding  – both good and of course the bad points, which I feel shouldn’t have happened. I find that from having some bad experiences I can ensure my own customers don’t experience the same from me and I know where they are coming from and how much planning and money is put into a wedding, therefore don’t intend to charge customers a fortune, as I’ve been where they are.
What has been your biggest challenge so far? The initial advertising and getting my name out there.
How have you dealt with it? Networking with other suppliers has helped this.
How do you fit in work with the family? Perfectly, this kind of work allows me to still keep on my full time job and do this in my spare time and also I can spend time with my family rather than working all hours.
What advice would you give to someone else wanting to work in this area? Ensure you still have a full time job to begin with to ensure a bit of security before taking the plunge and make sure you have enough money to buy stock and pay for advertising.
What do you want to say to the readers?
